How I Helped a Sensitive, Deep-Feeling Soul Break Free from Anxiety Using Somatic Healing

The Before: Stuck in Pain and Overwhelm

Sarah is a deeply feeling, highly sensitive soul. A creative spirit and a giver, she had spent most of her life showing up for others while neglecting herself.

Early childhood trauma and a history of emotional abuse left her struggling with feelings of unworthiness, self-doubt, and a belief that she had to carry everyone else’s burdens. 

When she came to me, she was exhausted—mentally, emotionally, and physically. 

She experienced relentless looping thoughts, deep emotional anguish, and a body that was crying out for attention through nausea, dizziness, and headaches. 

The pain of her past and present felt inescapable, and she feared for her future. 

She had tried traditional therapy, physical therapy, and group work, but still felt stuck. 

Her biggest fear? 😥

That she might never get better.

That this hopelessness was her forever.

And yet, something inside her still looked for a way forward. ✨

The Solution: A Somatic and Energetic Healing Approach

When Sarah found my work, she sensed this might be the missing piece. She booked a 15-minute vibe check, and after connecting on video, she felt safe to begin her healing journey with me. ⬅️

Together, we worked through a series of deep, integrative practices designed to bring her back home to herself. 

Somatic and energetic healing is not just about addressing symptoms—it’s about getting to the root of what’s stored in the body, mind, and nervous system. 

By working with the whole self, we help the body release tension, rewire patterns, and create space for self-trust and safety. 

(1) Slowing Down & Observing the Mind 

We started by getting curious about her thoughts. Instead of pushing them away or getting lost in them, we slowed everything down. 

  • Through guided somatic and bioenergetic practices, we explored the mind-body connection and how emotions were manifesting physically.

  • Using journal prompts and outside-of-session exercises, Sarah began identifying which thoughts were untrue and unhelpful.

  • Over time, she learned how to quiet the voices that weren’t hers and strengthen the ones that were true and kind.

This gave her an internal roadmap—a way to navigate her mental terrain with more awareness and self-compassion. 

She became more conscious of the origins of certain beliefs, which allowed her to begin detaching from narratives that were never hers to carry. ⭐

(2) Listening to Her Body & Emotions

Sarah had spent most of her life disconnected from her body. 

We worked together to help her gradually drop out of her head and into her heart and body.

Through reflection and coaching, we uncovered fears and resistance to embodiment.

  • We practiced somatic and bioenergetic exercises to tune into her body’s wisdom and recognize its signals.

  • She learned how to follow her intuition, listen to her body’s messages, and work through emotional resistance with more ease.

  • We introduced techniques such as self-soothing touch, grounding exercises, and sensory awareness to reestablish a feeling of safety in her own skin.

Over time, she stopped fighting her body and started trusting it instead

She began noticing physical cues that signaled stress or anxiety before they escalated, giving her the ability to intervene and regulate her nervous system proactively. ⭐

(3) Reconnecting With Her Breath

When we live in our heads, we often lose connection with our breath. 

Sarah’s breath had become shallow and restricted, reinforcing the tension in her body and mind.

We used simple breath awareness practices to bring her back to the present moment.

  • She learned how to use her breath to move through moments of discomfort and anxiety, allowing the breath to be a bridge between mind and body.

  • Over time, breathing became a tool for self-regulation, deep relaxation, and inner peace.

  • Instead of just focusing on structured breathwork sessions, we emphasized the importance of spontaneous breath awareness throughout daily life, so that she had an ever-present tool for anchoring herself in the now.

At first, this felt awkward and unfamiliar. 

But with practice, it became second nature—a constant source of support and stability.

(4) Practicing & Integrating New Skills

Understanding something conceptually is one thing; applying it is another.

To help Sarah integrate her healing, we used guided practices and role-playing.

In session, we practiced new ways of speaking up, setting boundaries, and holding space for her emotions.

  • She received tailored exercises to help her embody these changes in real life.

  • We used visualization and somatic rehearsals to prepare her for real-world situations, helping her feel more confident in taking action.

  • Slowly, she started making different choices—ones that honored her needs and desires, reinforcing a sense of self-worth and empowerment.

This was where the real shift happened. 

She wasn’t just thinking differently—she was living differently.
